Garrett is not only the beer author of so many books, the brewmaster of the Brooklyn Brewery, he is a real beer legend. One of the first to really promote beer & food-pairing on different media. I have his most famous book ‘The Brewmaster’s Table’ in my library, and a meeting with Garrett was something that been on my wish list for a long time.
In Denver where I was judging at the World Beer Cup, I finally got the chance to meet him! I was bit anxious to talk to him, as I always am with people who I admire, but he was really friendly and charming. It was great, and he invited me to visit the Brooklyn Brewery.Ofcourse I took him up on this offer. The week after I enjoyed a private tour with Garrett in the Brooklyn Brewery. Really impressive how this brewery had grown since his startup in 1987.
"What hit me the most, was the barrel room, where different beer sage for months on oak barrels. And their twist on Belgian classic beers is great. "
Together with the neighbourhood, that is experiencing a renaissance and slowly but surely evolving into a trendy place. What hit me the most, was the barrel room, where different beer sage for months on oak barrels. And their twist on Belgian classic beers is great. I loved the Sorachi Ace, a single hop Belgian saison, a masterpiece.
